End of the Season Post

The Stingray Tennis Team made it ten wins in a row last Friday afternoon, defeating Oslo Middle School. The official score was 6-1. The Stingrays ended the season in first place in the school district, with a record of 10 and 1.

A season-ending tournament was held on Saturday afternoon and several Stingrays shined.

Madelaine Rhodes took second place in Division 1 Girls Singles, missing out on first place by one point in a tie-breaker. Had she won the point, she would have come in first place. :(

Sam Weinstein finished in second place in Division 1 Boys Singles.

Chris Neira finished in second place in Division 2 Boys Singles.

Shannon McLeod finished in second place in Division 2 Girls Singles.

Mary Bennett came in third place in Division 1 Girls Singles.

Dylan Matson and Caterina Meijer made it to the semifinals in their divisions.

Congratulations to all of the members of the Stingray Tennis Team on an outstanding season. We are very proud of you!

Stingray Tennis Update: Week of May 11th

Greetings All!

The Stingray tennis team heads into the final week of the season on an 8-game winning streak after defeating Gifford's "Finns" team last Monday and Sebastian River's tennis team last Friday.

This week starts off with a match against South Vero Imagine at the Vero Beach Tennis Club at Timber Ridge on Monday (tomorrow). Then we are off until Friday afternoon when we take on Oslo Middle School at the Boulevard Tennis Club.

Please note that the Practice that was scheduled for this coming Wednesday has been cancelled. Again, Practice on Wednesday is Cancelled! I have to take my mother to an important doctor's appointment and I cannot reschedule it for another day.

By the way, Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers of our players!

As mentioned earlier, we do have a match on Friday afternoon at the Boulevard.

The season ends on Saturday with a season-ending tournament that will be held at the Vero Beach Tennis Club at Timber Ridge. The tournament will start at 12 Noon. It will likely be brutally hot, so make sure your child brings lots of water or a sports drink so that they stay hydrated during the competition.

As always, thank you for your support of the tennis program at Storm Grove Middle. It has been a fun year for me coaching this team and I hope it's been as much fun for the players on our team and for the parents who have watched their children play this wonderful game of tennis!

Sincerely Yours,

Coach Daugherty
