Tennis Update: April 26, 2021

 Hello Parents,

The kids did great in their match against Oslo Middle School last Thursday. For those keeping score, we won 11 matches and lost 8. But it really isn't about winning so much as it is against competing and showing good sportsmanship and our team excelled in those areas.

This week we have a match on Tuesday against St. Ed's at Riverside Park and a practice on Thursday, as scheduled. Kids should report to Riverside between 3:30 and 3:45. The goal is to have everyone on the team play at least one round of doubles and one round of singles. Some kids will be done by 5 p.m. but others might not finish until 5:30. We'd love to have you stay and watch, but if you can't, please plan on being there by 5 in case your child finishes early, or if they're still playing you can watch them play their last match.

We should be getting our shirts this week, hopefully by Tuesday. Sorry for the delay.

Tennis Update: April 17, 2021

 Hello Parents,

Thank you for your support of the tennis team yesterday. We had 100% of our players playing, many of them in their first match ever. I thought they did a great job.

Anyway, we do have some schedule changes, though nothing too major. 

Next week we have practice on Tuesday, as scheduled, but the match against Oslo Middle School has been changed to Thursday instead of Wednesday. It will be played at the Vero Beach Tennis Club in Timber Ridge, same place as Friday's match. Wednesday is an Early Release Day for the school district. There will not be any tennis on Wednesday, no match and no practice.

Also, Gifford Middle School wasn't able to get enough players to field a team. So instead of playing GMS on April 27th at Grand Harbor, we are now playing St. Edward's at Riverside Park. St. Ed's actually has two teams. We will play one of their teams on April 27th and their other team on May 4th.

I don't anticipate any more changes.

The shirts have been ordered. They are going to get them to us as quickly as possible.

Storm Grove Tennis 2021

I am excited to announce that the Stingray Tennis Team from Storm Grove Middle School is back in action! We were forced to take the 2020 season off, due to the Covid19 Pandemic, but as we've learned how to deal with this virus, we have embarked on a new season of tennis at Storm Grove Middle.

This year's team is comprised of 11 girls and 5 boys. We have a mix of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students on our team. Some are beginners, some are intermediate level, and a few are advanced players. We will be competing against other Middle School Tennis teams in Indian River County.
